Community Law Week at Fairfield

Published: 31 July 2019

We've talked to a lot of local community members during Open Court day at Fairfield Local Court.

Together with other government and community agencies the goal was to break down barriers between the CALD communities and the justice system. The event is catered to newly arrived refugees and people from a NESB undertaking the Adult Migrant Education Program and students from Navitas and TAFE NSW.

There was a tour of the Local Courts complex which allowed the Fairfield and Liverpool community access to their local court and to help raise awareness of services available to them. The tour showed how accessible, transparent and safe the local court is to everyone when starting their legal journey or seeking legal help.

MDSI (Macarthur Diversity Services Initiative) organised the event in working relation with other agencies.
