We are the experts

The Anti-Discrimination Board is the leading authority on anti-discrimination law in NSW and can bring you the latest information about best practice and legal developments.

Our on-site training programs go beyond compliance to show you how to develop an inclusive, diverse and healthy organisational culture. This is the best protection against the negative effects of discrimination, bullying and sexual harassment.

Customised training at your premises

We can provide all our courses on-site at your premises. We customise them to suit your industry and people. We use examples that your staff will relate to, integrate your policies and procedures into our course content and address any specific problems that you have identified.

We have provided customised training solutions for industries as diverse as mining, community welfare, finance, government, retail, education, manufacturing, health and media.

Seminars

Any of our courses can also be provided as a seminar if there is sufficient demand. This may suit you if you only have a few staff that need training. The most common seminar requests are:

Please contact the Anti-Discrimination Board to be placed on the list for the seminar of your choice.

What are the courses?

We can provide any of the courses listed, customised as needed. We can also develop any other relevant course that you need. Recent examples include managing age diversity, race discrimination, carer's responsibilities and dealing with difficult clients.

The courses range from an hour to two days. Some courses have a fixed length, while others can be adapted to suit your needs.

Who will benefit?

Discrimination, bullying and sexual harassment can happen anywhere. Everyone from directors to operations staff has a role to play in preventing harm to your organisation, its staff and customers.

We can work with separate groups of managers or staff as needed, or with groups that include both. We also run courses for students, boards, members of clubs and associations and any other group that needs assistance to achieve a diverse, inclusive and respectful environment.

Generally we recommend groups of 15-20 people. These numbers enable us to ensure full participation and explore individual concerns.

Experience counts

  • our interactive sessions use small group work, role plays, problem solving and discussion to engage participants and increase understanding
  • our neutral and independent approach gives us credibility with managers and staff at all levels of an organisation
  • our educators are experts at dealing positively with difficult questions
  • we explain the connection between anti-discrimination law and other laws such as work health and safety, fair work, industrial relations and common law
  • our face-to-face training fosters in-depth understanding of the issues and motivates participants to develop positive values, embrace change and contribute to a healthy organisational culture.

Need something different? Other training options:

  • addresses for larger groups such as conferences and staff get-togethers
  • informal talks for staff meetings, diversity committees and Contact Officer networks
  • one-on-one sessions where there is an individual that needs specific training
  • assistance with e-learning courses and webinars using your learning management system.

All these options can cover the subject matter in any of the courses in this brochure, more general information about anti-discrimination law and the Anti-Discrimination Board, or any other relevant topic of your choosing. They can be customised to suit your industry and people.

What people have said about our training

  • “The feedback from those who attended our Workforce Diversity Groups (EEO) awareness training was very positive. The case examples were a good interpretation of how current harassment, discrimination and bullying laws operate in Australia."
  • "ADB were very supportive in delivering a program that enabled our interstate based workforce to link in via telephone conference and net meeting. This was further enhanced through the presenter’s broader knowledge of interstate Workforce Diversity Groups (EEO) legislation. We will definitely consider engaging the services of ADB in the future.”
  • "The training facilitated by the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board was invaluable, especially as it incorporated the GEO Group Australia policies and procedures relating to bullying and harassment as well as raising grievances."
  • "I would not hesitate in using the services of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board again.”
  • “ThNSW ADB tailored their grievance handling course for Valspar’s senior managers and line managers. The training was closely aligned to our policies, which were reviewed by the ADB and included in the training material."
  • "The trainer demonstrated her expertise in delivering the material to our managers, both as a trainer and through her experience and knowledge."
  • "The theory was supported with practical and effective case studies and real life issues."
  • "The style of the training was effective and facilitated involvement from all the participants, whose feedback was also extremely positive.”
