Annual Report 2007-08

Highlights for 2007-08 include:

  • held a number of events to celebrate 30th anniversary of Anti-Discrimination Act, including event at Parliament house, forum on discrimination law, theatre performance and photography competition
  • answered 7,539 enquiries
  • received 1,144 complaints and finalised 1,073 complaints
  • disability discrimination overtakes sex discrimination as most common ground of complaint
  • legislative change to clarify that breastfeeding discrimination is unlawful
  • provided training for around 7,721 people in 511 workplace education sessions
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team continue to develop successful working partnerships with other agencies, including new pilot program to educate high school student leaders in western Sydney
  • ran successful writing competition for young people
