Annual Report 2000-2001

Highlights for 2000-01 include:

  • legislation to introduce new ground of carer's responsibilities discrimination passed in March 2001
  • held forum on how the Board could better serve people with an intellectual disability
  • launched enquiry into Hepatitis C related discrimination
  • Law Reform Commission recommends significant changes to Anti-Discrimination Act
  • responded to 15,520 enquiries
  • received 1,587 complaints and finalised 1,277 complaints
  • provided around 490 training sessions involving around 9,600 participants
  • ran education campaign on the carer's amendment including factsheets, guidelines, website information and presentations at business forums
  • participated in the Gay Mardi Gras with other units of the Attorney General's Department under the theme of "Acts of Passion"
  • ran forum on homosexual discrimination at Parliament House which won "Most Outstanding Community Event" award at Mardi Gras awards ceremony
