The Anti-Discrimination Board held a colouring competition for children to celebrate Law Week for 2006. Issues of race were in the spotlight during the year so the Board wanted to highlight the benefits of diversity and tolerance.
We designed a colouring template showing a number of animals from different countries, each eating food from another country. There is a koala eating stir-fry, a zebra eating pasta, a panda bear eating fish and chips, and so on.
Winners were awarded in three categories: ages 0-5, 6-10 and 11+, and there were also 10 finalists in each of the three categories.
The winners were presented with book vouchers for themselves and their school or playgroup at a ceremony at Parliament House. Finalists in each category also received a certificate. Children's entertainers the Hooley Dooleys performed at the ceremony and presented the prizes.
